In support to the One-Barangay One-Product (OBOP) program of LGU Naguilian, the Department of Science and Technology Regional Office No. 1 (DOST 1) thru its Provincial Science & Technology Center- La Union (PSTC-LU) provides enhancement training on rice wine processing. Active members of the San Antonio Rice Wine Production Association benefited to the said activity last August 20, 2021 held at the San Antonio processing area in Naguilian, La Union.

PSTC-LU facilitated the enhancement training to help the association make a better and profitable livelihood. Also, it will improve the members’ capabilities and knowledge in producing their rice wine.

Barangay San Antonio is famous in the municipality for their lush green mini rice terraces. The barangay produces their own red rice as the main source of raw material for their locally made rice wine.

Thru Ms. Princess P. Abuan, the trainer of the activity, the members learned the proper way of making rice wine with the integration of current good manufacturing practices. From inspection/sorting of raw materials up to the fermentation process, she guided the members and helped them cope up to the technology.

Barangay captain, Mr. Cristan Nisperos and Ms. Emilie S. Porte, LGU Naguilian Livelihood focal person, assured the association their support in the promotion and marketing of the rice wine. They expressed their heartfelt gratitude to DOST 1 for the assistance and continuous support they gave to the association, especially in assuring that their product is safe to consume and of high quality.
