CITY OF SAN FERNANDO, LA UNION- The Department of Science and Technology Region 1 (DOST 1), together with DZAG Radyo Pilipinas Agoo, featured the DOST’s oneSTore.PH project on their weekly interview program titled Tekno Presyensya: Syensya ken Teknolohiya para kadagiti Umili, on June 16, 2022.
The guests during the program are oneSTore.PH Project Manager Christopher Musni, and Provincial Government of Ilocos Norte Small and Medium Enterprise (SME) Head Elma Gabriel.
DOST 1 Regional Director Armando Q. Ganal extolled the accomplishments of DOST 1 during the first part of the program. He covered the successes of the regional and provincial S&T offices across the areas of Kabuhayan, Kaayusan, Kalusugan and Kinabukasan.
Mr. Musni gave an overview of the project and demonstrated how it aided micro, small, and medium companies (MSMEs) during the pandemic, as well as how it reached out to customers by making it easier to buy locally made and DOST-assisted products. He also discussed how the country's online platform works and cited some of the country's successful hubs.
Mr. Musni also mentioned the project's future ambitions and endeavors. The oneSTore.PH project continues to grow its reach with the goal of promoting local items in the global marketplace, as its mobile application and website stores can compete with other online shopping platforms in the market.
In the meantime, the Provincial Government of Ilocos Norte, through Ms. Gabriel, one of the project's adoptors, expressed their gratitude to DOST for the oneSTore.PH initiative. The presence of a oneSTore hub in Paoay, Ilocos Norte, which was inaugurated in June 2021, allowed local MSMEs to reach a larger market and become more well-known, resulting to increased revenue.
DOST 1 eyes to open more oneSTore hubs in the region to enhance people's livelihoods and economic well-being by expanding trade support to achieve decent work and economic growth (SDG 8).
