The Department of Science and Technology Regional Office 1 (DOST RO1) through the Provincial Science and Technology Office – Pangasinan (PSTO-Pangasinan) under the Community Empowerment through Science & Technology Program (CEST) awarded Packaging & Labeling (P&L) materials and stickers to Diaz Farmers Association on March 01, 2023, in Barangay Diaz, Bautista. 

The association undertook a 2-day training on Baking and Pastry Production to upskill their members last September 6-7, 2021, where basic knowledge on baking was taught. Also, pastry recipes like pizza, cake, cupcakes, macaroons, and brownies were introduced to the participants which they can offer to grow their community bakery.   

The P&L materials awarded aim to help the association to provide an excellent opportunity to promote its brand and will differentiate its product from competitors to create a strong brand image. It will also increase their sales & improve their marketing promotions. Currently, the association produces different kinds of bread like loaf bread, pandesal, hopia, pande coco, Spanish bread, ensaymada, and many more.   

Mr. Marcelo M. Sison, president of the association, and its members expressed their gratitude to the DOST I for helping their association acquire knowledge and enhance their skill in baking. 

The DOST 1 through CEST Program will continue to support communities to be sustainable and smart through science and technology innovations.
